📊 It Happens Every Year: Earnings + Seasonality Beat Rate Cycle
Risk Management and Position Sizing: The Only Edge That Actually Matters
Everyone wants to talk about entries. Nobody wants to talk about the math that keeps you in the game.
You can be right 70% of the time and still blow up your account. You can be right 40% of the time and get rich. The difference isn't your strategy. It's how much you bet when you're right, and how little you lose when you're wrong.
- THE ONE RULE YOU CAN'T BREAK
Professional traders don't aim to make money on every trade. They aim to make sure no single trade can hurt them.
Rule: Never risk more than 1-2% of your total capital on one idea.
If you have a $50,000 account and you risk 1% per trade, that's $500. You can be wrong 10 times in a row and you're down only 10%. You're still in the game.
If you risk 10% per trade, three losses in a row and you're down 27%. Now you're scared, revenge trading, and sizing up to make it back. That's how accounts die.
Your first job is survival.
- HOW TO ACTUALLY CALCULATE POSITION SIZE
This is the formula most beginners skip:
Position Size = (Account Size x Risk %) / (Entry Price - Stop Price)
Example:
- Account: $50,000
- Risk: 1% = $500
- Buy at $100, stop at $95. Risk per share = $5
- Position Size = $500 / $5 = 100 shares
- You invest $10,000, but you only risk $500.
The market doesn't care how much you invested. It only cares where you're wrong.
- THREE WAYS TO SIZE, PICK YOUR STYLE
- Fixed Fractional - The Foundation
Risk a fixed % every time. 1% when learning, up to 2% with proven edge. Simple, robust, automatically compounds wins and shrinks during drawdowns. Best for most stock traders. - Volatility-Based - Let The Market Tell You
Position Size = (Account Size x Risk %) / (ATR x Multiplier)
If a stock is twice as volatile, you take half the size. Keeps your losses consistent. Best for options, crypto, trading across markets. - Kelly Criterion - The Aggressive Optimizer
Kelly % = Win Rate - [(1 - Win Rate) / (Win/Loss Ratio)]
If you win 50% and your average winner is 2x your loser, Kelly says bet 25%. That's insane in real life. Pros use Half-Kelly or Quarter-Kelly. Use it to check if you're overbetting. - RISK MANAGEMENT IS MORE THAN A STOP LOSS
- Think in R-multiples. Risk $500 to make $1500 = 3R trade. If you average 1.5R, you only need to win 41% to break even.
- Cap your correlated risk. 4 positions in NVDA, AMD, SOXL, and SMH is not diversification. That's one big bet on semiconductors. Never have more than 6% total risk exposed at once.
- Define risk BEFORE the trade. Your stop, your size, your max daily loss. Hit -3R on the day? You're done. Market will be there tomorrow.
- Expectancy is your report card. Expectancy = (Win Rate x Avg Win) - (Loss Rate x Avg Loss). If positive after 100+ trades, you have an edge.
THE MISTAKES THAT KILL TRADERS
- Moving your stop because you "feel" it will come back
- Sizing up after a loss to get even
- No stop at all, or a mental stop. If it's not in the market, it doesn't exist
- Risking the same size on A+ setups and C- setups
PRE-TRADE CHECKLIST - TAPE THIS TO YOUR MONITOR
✓ Where am I wrong? Exact stop price.
✓ How much am I risking? 1% or less.
✓ What is my size? Calculated, not gut feel.
✓ What is my R? Is this at least 2R?
✓ What else am I risking today? Overexposed?
At the end of the day, the market is not in the business of making you money. It's in the business of transferring money from those without a risk plan to those with one.
Learn to lose small. The wins take care of themselves. The goal isn't to win every trade. It's to make sure that no single trade can take you out of the game.
Recent Trade Review
One example of the opportunities we're identifying came during Thursday's Live Trading Room, when I traded Accenture ($ACN), the global consulting and information technology services company.
Accenture is particularly interesting because it sits at the intersection of two major market themes: enterprise technology spending and the growing adoption of artificial intelligence.
The company helps businesses implement AI systems, modernize technology infrastructure, improve operations, and manage large-scale digital transformation projects. Unlike companies building expensive data centers, Accenture can benefit from helping corporate customers turn those investments into practical business applications.
Earlier this month, Accenture reported fiscal fourth-quarter revenue of approximately $18.7 billion, up 6% from the previous year, alongside $22.2 billion in new bookings. Its outlook also pointed to continued demand for technology consulting and AI-related services.
Thursday's price action was especially notable. While the Nasdaq suffered a sharp technology-led decline, Accenture shares climbed approximately 7.7%, closing at $258.74.
Our Dynamic Power Trader model identified a market-neutral trading opportunity in $ACN, demonstrating why I believe traders should focus on individual setups rather than relying exclusively on the direction of the broader market.
Importantly, Accenture's stock performance and the return of a specific trading strategy are not necessarily the same thing. The actual entry, exit, and position structure determine the trade's result.
This is also where the difference between our free educational services and our paid Dynamic Power Trader membership becomes important.
Identifying an opportunity is valuable. Knowing when to enter, when to adjust, and when to exit is equally critical. Our paid services provide timely trading signals, including SMS notifications, designed to help subscribers act on trading opportunities as market conditions change.

Current Trading Landscape
Wall Street has entered another important period of uncertainty as corporate earnings, geopolitical developments, and shifting expectations for interest rates compete for investors' attention.
The most immediate concern this week has been the sustainability of the artificial intelligence investment cycle.
For much of the past year, enormous capital commitments to AI infrastructure have helped drive gains across semiconductors, cloud computing, and the broader technology sector. Investors have rewarded companies positioning themselves to benefit from this transformation.
Now the market is becoming more demanding.
Strong revenue growth alone is no longer sufficient to justify every valuation. Investors increasingly want evidence that massive AI expenditures can produce sustainable earnings, free cash flow, and attractive returns on invested capital.
That distinction became especially clear on Thursday, October 22.
The Nasdaq Composite declined approximately 2.6%, while the S&P 500 lost 1.2%. Semiconductor stocks suffered particularly heavy losses, with the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index falling roughly 6.7%.
Meta's latest earnings highlighted the challenge. Although the company delivered strong revenue growth, investors focused on the cash-flow implications of its enormous AI investment plans and other financial pressures. Tesla also reported its latest results, but the broader market remained sensitive to valuations, spending expectations, and profitability.
The important point is that this isn't necessarily the end of the AI investment cycle. Rather, the market appears to be entering a more selective phase in which companies must increasingly demonstrate tangible returns.
Meanwhile, geopolitical developments have introduced another layer of uncertainty.
Escalating conflict involving Iran-backed Houthi forces and attacks affecting Saudi energy infrastructure have contributed to another surge in crude oil prices. Brent crude climbed above $115 per barrel on Friday as traders assessed the possibility of further supply disruptions.
Higher oil prices create a difficult situation for the Federal Reserve. Rising energy and transportation costs can feed into inflation just as policymakers are trying to determine whether monetary conditions are sufficiently restrictive.
Tariff uncertainty and elevated financing costs add to that challenge, particularly for companies already struggling with operating margins.
Bond markets are also sending important signals.
The U.S. 10-year Treasury yield has experienced significant volatility within a broad range of approximately 4.5% to 5.5%, reinforcing concerns that interest rates could remain higher for longer.
Overseas, France's growing fiscal and political difficulties have pushed its government borrowing costs sharply higher. French 10-year yields moved above 5%, while the premium over German government bonds widened substantially. These developments are worth monitoring because sovereign debt stress can influence global risk appetite, financing conditions, and capital flows.
Despite the recent selling pressure, I remain constructive on the broader market.
The S&P 500 ETF ($SPY) finished Thursday around $764, modestly below its 50-day moving average near $768. This is an important technical area because the market is testing whether buyers will defend the intermediate-term trend.
The CBOE Volatility Index ($VIX) also increased, closing Thursday near 19 after trading considerably lower earlier in the week.
That reflects growing uncertainty, although it does not automatically signal the beginning of a prolonged bear market.
My outlook remains that SPY could eventually advance toward the 780–810 range over the next few months, provided earnings remain supportive and economic conditions do not deteriorate substantially.
On the downside, I view the 740–750 area as an important support zone. A sustained break below that region would require reassessing the near-term bullish thesis.
The longer-term trend remains constructive in my view, but I expect volatility and sector rotation to remain important features of this market.
The biggest risk to the bullish outlook is a prolonged period of higher interest rates, especially if elevated oil prices reinforce inflation and pressure corporate margins.
That brings us back to the most important trading principle for the current environment: controlling losses before they happen.
The next several trading sessions could determine whether the latest decline in technology stocks becomes another buying opportunity or develops into a more meaningful correction.
The Federal Reserve's October 27–28 meeting is likely to be an important test, especially as oil prices and geopolitical developments keep inflation concerns elevated.
Investors will also continue evaluating earnings from major technology companies to determine whether AI-related spending can support the profit growth embedded in current valuations.
My base case remains bullish, with the possibility of SPY reaching the 780–810 range over the coming months. But I expect continued volatility, and I believe the 740–750 support region deserves close attention.
For that reason, I'm focused on remaining selective, protecting capital, and identifying opportunities where the potential reward justifies the risk.
The market will always provide another opportunity. The challenge is making sure you still have the capital, discipline, and confidence to take advantage of it.
Dynamic Power Trader: Catch Opportunities Without Losing Control of Risk
Save $391 on the Dynamic Power Trader upgrade.
What happens when a market that has been rewarding aggressive technology positions suddenly changes direction?
This week's price action provided a useful reminder that markets can move quickly, and yesterday's strongest sector can become today's biggest source of losses.
That's why I built Dynamic Power Trader around more than simply finding momentum stocks.
The objective is to identify actionable trading opportunities while helping traders respond to changing conditions through systematic analysis, timely entry and exit signals, and disciplined position management.
Subscribers receive access to trade alerts through channels including SMS, with additional insight into the setups and strategies we use.
When volatility increases, traders may also need to consider smaller positions, more selective entries, defensive strategies, or appropriate hedges rather than simply adding exposure.
Our current upgrade offer provides access to the expanded Dynamic Power Trader service at a $391 discount, with the promotional three-month package listed at $197 instead of $588. Renewal terms apply.

Trading always involves risk. The advantage of a systematic process isn't that losses disappear. It's that decisions become more deliberate and less dependent on emotion.
Sector Spotlight
Technology remains one of the most important sectors to watch as we approach the final months of the year, but the character of the rally is changing.
The Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund ($XLK) experienced another difficult week as investors reassessed the enormous spending commitments associated with artificial intelligence. The ETF declined 3.3% on Thursday before recovering modestly on Friday to close near $183.23, reflecting the uncertainty surrounding technology valuations, corporate earnings, and the upcoming Federal Reserve decision.
The challenge isn't necessarily that demand for AI is weakening. It's that investors are becoming increasingly selective about which companies can translate AI investments into sustainable earnings growth.
Semiconductors represent approximately 46% of XLK's portfolio, making the ETF particularly sensitive to changes in AI infrastructure spending expectations. When investors question the profitability of new data centers, advanced chips, and related infrastructure, selling pressure can quickly spread across the sector.
I continue to believe technology will remain a major driver of the longer-term bull market. However, the next phase of the AI investment cycle may reward companies that help businesses generate measurable returns from the infrastructure already being built.
That includes enterprise software, cybersecurity, IT services, and technology consulting.
From a technical perspective, XLK's recent decline has brought the ETF back toward the $181–$183 area, where buyers have repeatedly appeared in recent trading sessions. A sustained recovery above $188–$190 would be an encouraging sign that technology leadership is stabilizing, while a decisive break below $181 could open the door to additional selling pressure.
With interest rates remaining elevated and the Fed preparing for another important policy decision, I expect technology stocks to remain volatile. But volatility can also create opportunities for disciplined traders willing to distinguish companies with improving fundamentals from those relying primarily on optimistic expectations.
Trade of the Week: Accenture ($ACN)
One technology company that has demonstrated the kind of relative strength I'm looking for is Accenture ($ACN), the global consulting and technology services leader.
As investors increasingly question whether the hundreds of billions of dollars flowing into artificial intelligence will produce meaningful financial returns, Accenture offers a different way to participate in the AI revolution.
Rather than relying primarily on building expensive computing infrastructure, Accenture helps corporations implement AI systems, modernize their technology operations, strengthen cybersecurity, and integrate new technologies into existing business processes.
That distinction is becoming more important.
Corporations have already committed enormous amounts of capital to AI infrastructure. The next phase will increasingly focus on making that technology productive, reducing operating expenses, improving efficiency, and generating measurable returns on investment. Accenture's global enterprise relationships and consulting capabilities position the company to benefit from that transition.
Its latest earnings provide support for this investment thesis.
Accenture reported fiscal fourth-quarter revenue of approximately $18.7 billion, representing 6% year-over-year growth in U.S. dollars, while new bookings reached $22.2 billion. Consulting revenue increased 7%, and management projected fiscal 2027 revenue growth of 3% to 6% in local currency.
These results helped ease concerns that AI-driven automation would undermine Accenture's traditional consulting business. Instead, the company demonstrated that corporate demand for large-scale technology transformation remains significant, even as businesses become more cautious with discretionary spending.
The market's reaction has been particularly encouraging.
While XLK declined approximately 3.3% during Thursday's technology selloff, Accenture rallied 7.7%, closing at $258.74. That divergence demonstrated substantial relative strength and suggested investors were willing to reward companies with credible earnings and enterprise technology exposure.
Shares pulled back 3.6% on Friday, closing at $249.37, but still finished the week approximately 8.6% above the previous Friday's closing price.
From a technical perspective, I'm watching the $240–$242 area as an important initial support zone, followed by stronger potential support around $228–$232. Holding those levels would strengthen the argument that recent buying interest represents a more durable shift in sentiment.
On the upside, the $255–$260 region represents an immediate resistance area following Thursday's surge. A sustained breakout above that range could create room for an advance toward $275, although that remains a conditional upside scenario rather than a guaranteed target.
There are risks to consider. Accenture's substantial rally since its summer lows has made valuation more demanding, and Baird recently downgraded the stock to Neutral, arguing that much of the improvement in its outlook may already be reflected in the share price. Pressure on consulting pricing and slower organic revenue growth also deserve attention.
That is precisely the kind of divergence I want to identify when market volatility increases.
With strong enterprise relationships, continued demand for digital transformation, and potential benefits from the next phase of corporate AI adoption, I believe the company deserves attention as investors become more selective across the technology sector.
This week, I am adding Accenture ($ACN) to my portfolio.
As always, entry price and position sizing remain essential. The objective isn't simply to identify a promising company, but to find an opportunity where the potential reward justifies the risk.
And one more thing! Our track record speaks for itself from the standpoint of a Winning Trades Percentage, Average Return Per Trade, and Net Gain. Just take a look:
The consistent performance of our services is just incredible. My historical stellar performance is made possible by being right on 82.16% of all trades that I made, with an average profit of 39.60% per trade on our collective trade recommendations. To my knowledge, this trading performance is one-of-a-kind and stands alone in the marketplace for superior trading advice, where our numbers and results speak for themselves.
For the rest of 2026, the market is entering a more selective and demanding phase. On the surface, major indexes remain resilient, but underneath, investors are navigating a more complicated environment shaped by geopolitical tensions, tariff uncertainty, uneven megacap earnings, sticky inflation expectations, and renewed pressure from interest rates. At the same time, labor market data is beginning to soften at the edges, creating a setup where discipline, timing, and data-driven decision-making are becoming more important than broad market optimism.
This is exactly where YellowTunnel becomes essential.
In a market where leadership is narrowing and volatility can return quickly, investors need more than headlines and guesswork.
